Kendal & Brandon

The day began at Kendal's grandparents' beautiful farm just south of Rouleau, Saskatchewan, where everyone gathered to get ready. Brandon and his groomsmen settled into the downstairs of the family home while Kendal spent the morning upstairs, surrounded by her bridesmaids, family, and plenty of excitement. The house was full of laughter, hugs, and the kind of joyful anticipation that makes wedding mornings so special.
One of my favourite moments happened before the ceremony when Kendal surprised her bridesmaids with a first look. Their reactions were priceless, especially with everyone dressed in beautiful mismatched bridesmaid dresses that added so much personality and colour to the day. It was such a sweet reminder that weddings are just as much about celebrating friendships as they are about celebrating love.
Not long after, it was Brandon's turn.
In the very same living room, as guests began arriving outside, Kendal and Brandon shared an intimate first look. Watching Brandon's face as he saw his bride for the first time was enough to make everyone smile. It was quiet, emotional, and completely genuine.
Before joining their guests, the two shared another incredibly meaningful moment. With only a couple of witnesses present, they sat together on the living room couch and read the handwritten vows they had written for one another. It felt so personal and intentional. After exchanging those heartfelt words, they signed their marriage certificate together before officially beginning the celebrations.
Mother Nature decided to turn up the heat, making it one of those classic Saskatchewan summer days with blazing sunshine and soaring temperatures. Everyone did their best to stay cool between photos, plenty of water breaks, and finding every bit of shade possible. Despite the heat, nobody let it dampen the excitement, and the smiles never disappeared.
Then came the moment that I definitely won't forget. As I was getting ready to leave for the reception, I somehow managed to lock my keys inside my vehicle... with all of my camera gear safely tucked away in the trunk. After exhausting every possible solution, there was only one option left. Brandon and Kendal's dad stepped in, sacrificed the back window of my vehicle, and broke it so we could unlock the doors and rescue my keys. It was one of the most embarrassing moments I've ever had at a wedding, but it also reminded me just how kind and generous people can be. Instead of frustration, everyone simply wanted to help get the day back on track. I'll always be grateful for that act of kindness—even if I drove home later with a window covered in tape!
The celebration continued at the hall in Rouleau, which had been transformed with charming rustic country décor. The spacious hall was warm and inviting, with Kendal and Brandon choosing a sweetheart table on the stage that kept the focus on the two of them while still feeling relaxed and intimate.
Guests enjoyed a delicious meal before sharing heartfelt speeches that had everyone laughing and tearing up. One highlight was a fun pop quiz for Brandon that kept the room entertained and showed just how well everyone knew the groom. The evening continued with an impressive choreographed first dance that had everyone cheering from the sidelines.
As the sun finally softened and the temperature became a little more forgiving, we snuck away from the reception for one last round of portraits. The gentler evening light was worth the wait, giving us the perfect chance to capture some quiet moments together after such a full and exciting day.
Kendal and Brandon's wedding was filled with meaningful moments, heartfelt emotions, unforgettable laughs, and one very unexpected adventure involving a broken car window. It was a day that perfectly reflected them: full of love, surrounded by incredible family and friends, and proof that even when things don't go exactly as planned, the best memories often come from the unexpected.
Kendal and Brandon, thank you for trusting me to capture your wedding day. It was truly one for the books, and I wish you both a lifetime of love, laughter, and many more adventures—hopefully with a little less broken glass.
